You all have done amazing work! Bravisimo!!!

I’m glad making this low-poly pawn was much easier than saying it ten times fast.

What I especially liked about this exercise was that it gave a taste of what working with a client is like. You can put a great deal of thought, time and effort into making something as polished as possible, but you need to be prepared for them to come back with changes or a completely different idea. The secret is to be fluid; flow with the changes and take everything on as a positive, new challenge to your skill and creativity.

Didn’t see all this adding a sphere on top and did a few extra extrudes instead

Hi everyone!

These are my pawns. I’ve been playing around with lighting and render options.

High poly (4922 tris):

Low polys can be pretty too! (176 tris)

Here is my low-poly version! I definitely had to tug edge loops around a bit, but I got it down to 206 tris without sacrificing its look much at all

Hi,

Low poly pawn incoming:

Hmm, maybe 260 Tris is too high let’s try to reduce that amount a little:

Done ! I still prefer the first one, and you ? Which one do you like ?

Cheers !

After making some final adjustments this is the low poly Pawn that I was able to model.

Hey all, here is my low poly pawn. I decided to leave a little detail in it still (especially in the sphere on top) and I think it turned out pretty well!
