Section 4 - Chess scene

I feel like low poly chess pieces go poorly with that fake marble surface. I guess better than stick in the eye, but I am really having trouble with choosing angles. Camera view is so rapid, that it is hard to fine tune it. Even trying to move camera to viewport view is not helping much. Could someone explain what am I doing wrong? LOL

Yes, the chessboard surface is a bit overwhelming.
Lower the effects. Go for simplicity.

It depends on how you set the camera view?

If you use the qweasd camera view method, then use the mouse scroll wheel to increase/decrease the movement speed.
Also moving things with the mouse AND press shift will also slow down.

I use control alt numpad0 to align the camera with view then transform with x,y,z in the transform box to frame it how I want. Usually you only have to rotate a little or none from the initial camera align on z and x or y.

Thank you, guys! I’ll give it a go next time and hopefully have less frustration lol

People often overdo the board texture with the enthusiasm of first playing with nodes and procedural textures. It’s normal! More minimal and subtle is usually better.
