Section 2 Wrap up

Decided to take Mike’s advise on training some more before proceeding to Section 3.
Lessons learnt:

  • Loop cutting doesn’t really work well with ico sphere. Had fun adding vertices to shape the front of the boat to be more pointy.
  • With big objects it is wise to change the 3D cursor type when scaling details vs moving them.
  • If there is a way to use an array modifier feature and then use different materials within that array, I am still to find that out.
  • Finally used the feature when you can “close the eye” for different objects to get easier access to other objects.
  • Shaping watchtower and bobbins was fun. Used loops and deleting some faces to create guard rails.
Hope next time my picture has more contrast to it.
    Looking forward to more pictures!

A great container ship would have been ideal for a recent collab!

Array multicolour is possible.

Not easy or common. I knew it was possible but had to look it up.

The ‘Math’ node is a Vector one that can only be found via search in the node editing area, it is not in the Add menu strangely.
Note the array modifiers UV offset alterations from default too if trying this.

Thanks for the tip!
Will definitely keep that in mind.

It works only on mesh with quad faces. Faces with only four vertices.

Yes, there is using the material nodes setup. Each object can have a random (float) number (0…1). Which can be used to randomize things. You will learn later. Ah! i see NP5 explained it already!

This depends on how your personal workflow will be.
