Here are a few models I made following the instructions and constraints. I did that quickly before going to work this morning, that’s why it may look a bit sketchy. I did some editing to make the bevels on the tv set. I hope the last one is not too risqué. I wanted to do a female character but not too serious.
Have you had prior experience with blender? On your table with 3 shelves, how did you cut the corners?

Thanks. Yes I had some experience with 3D in general, but it was a few years ago. I’m trying to get back to it.
For the TV set, I extruded and scaled down the new face on X.
For the tv there is also a shortcut “i”. this insets it. its like extruding sorta but really just adds vertices inside your selection , kinda still a beginner to blender myself. 
but free youtube tutorials arent all bad. picked up a few keyboard shortcut things there.
That is great to know, thanks for the info. Also found out how to cut corners and create my own shapes now, just made it further into section 2 of the blender course.
