QUEDIN - my new game

Hi guys!
I started new game few days ago. Right now I am trying to separate playable ground (player can make moves). This is how it looks right now. What do you think. Does it look okay? First image is without any separation ofc.

Looking good

It looks much better in your second image, it would be clear to the player where they can go. If you can get three or four different wall objects that match each other and randomize the order that they are placed I think it would look even better. That way the wall looks more natural around your play space.

Yeah Lee, I agree with you. I only asked about the concept. It took me just a minute to place the objects and I know it does not look excellent - at least could be better. I will work tommorow to make it more attractive.

Looking very good!
Since you decided to make it a 3d game, I think that it would be really cool if you added options to rotate the Camera around the game space =D it would be very nice.

@Joao_Dalvi It’s already on todo list. But for now I am just prototyping the concept.

I made some changes but it looks similar. What do you think right now? I think that non-playable area will not change much.

Looks really good, huge improvement on the above.

If I had to make a criticism at all, it would be the repetitiveness of the central texture. A little variation perhaps there would be nice. Appreciate this is a work in progress

Playable ground will be changed tomorrow. I think I will put there some trees and other obstacles but firstly I need to write a script which will place these obstacles on the grid and also square with obstacle cannot be reachable for player’s units. Right now it’s impossible.

Sounds like a great plan. A little pond would be cool too

Pond is also included in my plan.

yay! … could be home to the Duck Sensei

This is how it looks today. Script for reading obstacles works great. You can see that unit has no possibility to enter on parts which are already taken.

This is what I did today. You can see some changes on the map and also I wrote camera controller. You can zoom using mouse wheel, focus camera on the object and change place of the camera on the grid. There is also “auto-center” script. When you are in the corner and you zoom out then the camera will change its position automatically. What is really important everything is smooth.

What do guys think about marking enemy unit as reachable? For now material’s color is changing but I’m not sure. Maybe I should change mouse cursor. Sword for example?

What do you think about winter scene?

I was wondering with both the winter and autumn scenes (which look really cool btw), whether maybe having some different tree models would be nice. Some less leafy and more branchy/twiggy and for autumn have a few leaves on the ground around the trees?

Just a thought…

Guys, I am still alive!
I think that project is going in right direction and I have another question about style/look.
How does main menu look from your perspective?

I would say it’s looking very good
