When I rotate the face by 180 degrees, everything looks okay.

Hi KorvusKoraks,
maybe your inset thickness value is beyond 1. You can check this in the tools panel after the inset action. Try to position your mouse curser a bit closer to the face before pressing “i”. When the cursor is far away it is very sensitive.
