Possessing The Pawn

Hi There!!

In this lecture, we possess our pawn. Possess means to control the pawns in our world.

By default, unreal gives us a DefaultPawn which we can see during play.

Now, we can control this with our mouse and keyboard inputs. In this lecture, we learn to replace this with our desired pawn, or an actor, or a character, etc.

First, make sure you have your camera on the tank, as we’re possessing the tank here. Then, on the details panel, search auto possess tank. From the dropdown, select Player 0 instead of disabled. Congratulations! Now you have possessed your tank. Hit play, and you can see what the camera sees. You see the tank as the camera does. You still can’t move around, pretty frustrating right? Don’t worry, we’ll how to do that in the upcoming lectures.
