Portal WIP

I want to make a portal with my own textures and materials. This is the starting point. Apart from some mounds of skulls that i plan to put in, can i hope for some suggestions for what to put in next?

Perhaps some sort of table portal activating device? On off switch lol.

Sounds good!
I’ll try that tomorrow. That’s it for today:

Not much progress today. Just trying to set up the lighting and it’s a pain in the bum.
How can i get rid of the clipping of my base? Can’t seem to find a decent answer on yt.

Should be in the right hand ‘N’ side toolbar. ‘View’ tab ‘View’ sub drop open, usually open by default, Clip start, clip end settings. Try playing with them.

yeah it actually does nothing when i set it to very very far

Phew! Fixed it! Turned out i just did some manual adjustments to the camera object itself and forgot how to undo them

so nice! A cauldron and/or some antique book tomes (with some skulls carved in it?! maybe lol) aside would go well too, I think
maybe you can research “spells” or “witch cauldron illustration” in google for some inspiration

This needs a demonic hand coming out of the portal!

A friend already suggested that, so i am considering. However organic shapes and sculpting are not my strongest sides(never tried before). I want to do a pulpit with an open book on it. This scene is getting really messy. Good thing that in course they taught about collections and naming stuff early on. Otherwise this would now be beyond unmanageable

loll That is good you named and recollected things well. I can made the monster hand if you want

I must politely decline. Maybe another project? This one i want to create 100% by myself. Feedback is appreciated, though. Ideas on how to expand are too. I want to bring some more vegetation and put the pulpit in. I have no idea what to make, grass seems a bit… out of place here, so most likely some thorny bushes

sure! no problems at all. I’ll give you a hint to do the demonic arm. You may start with a cylinder; put loops in the border edges and subdivide it two times in Smooth mode. Then with Snake Hook in sculptmode (maybe with Dyntopo 3.5 or 4) you pull out 3 fingers and mark the nails with Crease Brush
yeah! Grass seems harsh! haha

Thanks for the tips, i’ll try it out as soon as i fully understand what you meant by this. I think i now have a better idea of what the arm should look like. Think don’t starve, skinny, elongated, sharp-edged and monochrome. I fell asleep trying to model a decent looking skull yesterday. It just needs teeth and a material and she’ll be ready to form a nice little pile with her sisters building the base of the pulpit

Update:
I know it’s not much, but i did a texture in Quixel to replace the floor with. I’m currently working on my skull, but it’s not done yet. Maybe after it’s done I will remake the texture for the black marble blocks

Update: I just need to make the arm, flesh out the book(texture paint it), fix the fires, cause i’m not satisfied and we’re done here

I took a little break from this project. I got so much stuff in it, my pc can’t operate normally. The force field in the back is temporary, i just liked the effect so much i’m going to save the texture for some other project later on. Still didn’t get around to doing the demonic hand. Tried the bushes several times, but wasn’t satisfied, so they’re all scrapped. The fire got a makeover and i have to say, i am really glad with the result.

Completed this a while back and never posted it. Now I’m back modelling and figured i’d share the final version of this scene(sorry, no hand creeping out of the portal  )
