Are you satisfied with the end result?
I think the problem lies in the lighting (too flat).
blue light makes things harsh.

I like how you stylized the set: same pieces, but made both “cartoony” and believable.
A little more light contrast would help distinguish the pieces from the board (Black pieces) and background (White pieces)
