Made the rails and ramp like in the videos, my previous stairs are hidden for now (they were a separate object). It was fun to make the stairs before but this method is way better and keeps the object as one. didn’t like having to delete the face of the ramp to get the railing in, could have used I to intrude or ‘ctrl R’ to create the railings, but this was still a great tutorial 
Having great fun with this, might do stairs on all the other sides for practice
