I have been fascinated with the whole concept of VR for years, I find it to be an amazing medium to really immerse users into your story/experience. I obtained a VR set just under a year ago now and have been amazed with how people have embraced the platform.
I have been dabbling learning C++ and C# for a while but have had trouble keeping myself inspired. But having seen this course, it has me wanting to try and really move forward with my learning.
VR Goals:
*Learn and reinforce my knowledge of C++ and the Unreal Engine
*Give myself a good baseline understanding of VR development
*Learn how VR is currently being experienced and where it is heading
*Create something!
The Plan:
*Work on a section for at least 30min-1hr every day (even if it just writing ideas or working on a piece of code)
*Keep brief points and notes on coursework - I find its the best way for myself to retain knowledge/refresh what I learned
Side Project:
Develop a VR art immersion experience - A project that has been in my mind for a while; Combining visual and music experiences. It may be quite ambitious, especially for my current skillset, but I might as well reach for it! Who knows it may turn into something completely unexpected and wonderful!
Platform:
*HTC Vive - Room scale
Looking Forward:
*Learning how the Unreal Engine tackles VR development
*Applying the lessons to my own projects
*Having a fun way to learn some C++
Can’t wait to get learning!
