As I said earlier, I find this a very good project. Especially the texturing and beautiful recognizable chess pieces.
The last picture, gives me a strange feeling, the four sides of the playfield is strange. unexpected highlite - shadow. Not sure what causes this. Good job!

I may need to add an edge loop and push it against the side; something I just started experimenting with after. I don’t see any curve in wireframe, but maybe there is a bit. I got a bit frustrated trying to remove the shadow, with different light angles and whatnot, but eventually moved on.
