Here is my pawn(s) grey is higher rez as i forgot the ‘low-poly’ part and went crazy, purple is after some creative ‘Subdividing’ (3721 verts to 1769 verts). After that I just had to give it some color having taken so much away 
It is quite surprising how much detail survived the simplification.
