I started thinking of using wooden blocks like dominoes but the physics engine drove me crazy! …so simple blocks it is!
You probably mean, the stone can not be placed on the ground floor? (fell over…)
Pretty much, yeah. I generated the dominoes using an array modifier and got them following a bezier curve, but although one block was stable, other blocks further along the line would just fall over. I actually used physics to drop and scatter the blocks for the image above, just to give it a random feel.
If you follow the course, there are chapters handling this problem.
Due to how it works in Blender. There must be a small gap between the static ground floor and the dynamic object. Like the mortar between bricks. My advice is too follow the course.
Also, I never did a project like this. But use array and bezier to layout. then apply the modifiers. Then apply physics, where the tiles are a bit off the ground.
Good luck.
Looks nice, now for the animation.
