My First Solo Render

So this is my first actual solo project, tell me what you all think and let me know how I should improve it for future use; I still need to learn about Bump Mapping and Texture Painting, but aside from that tell me about the polys, the quality, and the lighting as I feel I am a terrible scene lighter haha

One of my friends mentioned that Ninjato generally have square / rectangular Tsuba, some people on my Insta also said it shouldn’t be so bright for a “Ninja” weapon; so I went ahead and made it more accurate

I think the presentation is very static. Just a sword, full frontal.
Adding an environment would create more atmosphere.
Now it looks like an game asset to choose.

Adding environment reflection can improve the object.

Don’t give up. Not all projects are in the beginning the best subject to practice.
Learn more and return to a project and improve it.

Awesome! The only thing I’d change is make the flag a bit more vibrant. It looks just a tad too matte in my eye, but still it’s an excellent sword!

Final edit for the night; I fixed the crease in the blade with some beveling to make it smoother, tweaked the lighting and overall size of the flag, and fixed that horrible ring as well as the lighting lol

Thanks for all the feedback; it was incredibly helpful

Been a few days, but I finally got around to redoing the wrapping; I think it looks much better now

Great! I love the blood groove. I’d like to add it to my wallpaper folder

Does anyone know why my materials are not rendering properly? I have tried both Eevee and Cycles, plus all manners of lighting.

Presumably something to do with your render settings. Which you would have to show here and someone might see what is up.
