Here is my bowling alley scene. I’m really struggling with getting the lighting right in 2.82.
Explain?
Up above top one is EVEE and bottom one is Cycles.
The lighting looks better in the preview in the 3D viewport in Blender than it does in the render.
Maybe if I could explain it better I wouldn’t be struggling as much.
Don’t try to make Eevee look exactly as Cycles does. They are different render engines. Pick one, like Eevee, because it has fast render times. Which helps you in following these challenges.
Eevee takes some shortcuts, on lighting and shadows. For better results on this tweak the Eevee settings, but with a cost. It make Eevee slower.
Eevee is more a game engine, while Cycles if more for stills or some types (realism) of animation. Of course you can try to make Eevee look the same as cycles does. But that’s not the point in these challenges. Most people will work in Eevee for fast render times. Then for the final result, switch over to cycles and tweak the settings a bit.
