I have to say, this is by far the simpliest block breaker game I’ve played and that’s a compliment.
What do I mean? Most of the block breakers games on this site usually overcomplicate everything with particles, art and/or mechanics, you kept it simple and that’s something I really apreciate because block breaker is a very basic game that for maximum enjoyment should be kept simple. Why? Well, it’s an arcade game with and “arcade design”, if you change something the core of the design breaks completely, and you kept it as it is, so, it’s incredibly enjoyable, and that’s, at least from my point of view, the biggest priority for anyone that makes games.
Sometime less is more, and this block breaker game shows that, there are no power ups, no excesive particles (I loved the particles effect btw, clean, simple, yet rewarding), there’s basically three mecanics only (move, break, bounce), simple sound, there’s not even a single fancy thing, this is no fancy game but it’s super elegant, neat, tidy, clean, your code to prevent boring loops is so elegant, I’m not even sure if you use code to fix that or something else, everythings works so nicely it’s hard to tell what is going on in the background.
And there’s one thing I loved the most, when selecting a level, if I press minus when at level one it goes to level 4… IT GOES TO LEVEL 4!!! I know this might sound dumb for some people, but that is such a huge QOL thing to do and you took the time to do it! Thank you!!!
Hi Yee!
Thank you very much for your words!, I am very happy that you liked the idea of the game. Indeed, the idea was to keep it simple, classic, within the limits of the course, and enjoyable.
I just uploaded a version with background music. As an experiment, I tried to test how the game feels with tracks that match the speed and style of each level.

Regarding the boring ball strategy, this is what I used: Soft Velocity Tweak, preserve Magnitude, avoid all deadlocks
