My attempt at the lighthouse scene

By the way my PC is absolutely trash, i will change it soon. But i tried something. I’m a beginner.

Good solution!
Glad, you’ve shared it!
The houses could be a bit more straight.
Have fun!

For Blender you really don’t need a high-end machine!
I use an old laptop (2011 era)

  • Rendering in Cycles is faster, but with the denoiser option you don’t need many samplings anymore.
  • Sculpting is less frustrating, because of more memory in the machine and faster calculations. But sculpting is a small part of content creation. And it depends strongly on what you are trying to achieve.

Just follow the course. See what you will do at the end of your Blender learning curve. Then decide what kind of hardware you need. For example

  • High-end CPU and memory when sculpting / rendering is your thing
  • High-end GPU when rendering / animation / gaming is your thing ..

Or everything in between

Have fun!

Cool first step into Blendering

Welcome on board, and I hope you’ll enjoy your journey

The way your colours don’t follow the edges of your models, is likely because you set them to shade smooth? Unless you have them stretch on purpose, of course.

If you wish to have your colours follow the edges of your model, go into object mode, right-click the house and click Shade Flat.

Hey ! Thank you. I didn’t even notice it was wrong. I will fix it.

I didn’t even do a shade smooth or anything, just the modeling.

Hello ! And thank you for such long and detailed reply.

I wanted the houses to be placed in a hill. They are voluntarily not straight. But it’s not well made and it could have been done better.

About my terrible PC. It’s been 7 years since i have it. It’s about to die, and it’s very very old.

My PC config is this:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 1300X Quad-Processor

GPU: Ryzen 570 Series.

RAM: 8.00 Gb.

I will definitely change it soon. I can’t even render in Cycles my PC just suffers terribly.

But with the RAM prices that have skyrocketted, it will be a little bit complicated.

I think i want something strong, High-end CPU and GPU. A PC i won’t change before 5 years.

Anyways, thank you again.

Have a nice day (or night) !

Cycles? I’m sure you meant EEVEE.

Sure EEVEE is faster, but I mend Cycles is faster with a high end CPU (cores) then a high end GPU when you do a lot of calculations.

GPU is better for large data blocks. But lacks in mathematical functions. Needed in light-ray calculations. For example if you are using nodes and such.

I definitely use EEVEE for my renders, it is impossible for me to use Cycles due to my weak GPU.
