After my first generic attempt, I’ve completely redone the story and changed it into a mighty different beast.
I have to admit, I was disappointed that my game wasn’t more exciting so I spent (in total) nearly 20 hours coding this 540 line beasty with 52 different states (see if you can find them all!
) And it’s only one room!
I had to wrack my brain to figure out how to do some of this (Google is your friend…and so is Rob Meade!)
Yes it’s only one room, but I think the end product is well worth the effort.
Please play through a couple of times (yes it has a small amount of replayablity because something changes - I’m not saying what as that’ll spoil the surprise) and give me some feedback.
Thanks for playing
The game can be found by clicking right here!
For those of you that can’t play the web player version above, here is the link for the WebGL version
Hey @Robert_Holland glad to hear you’re sticking with the course and congrats on iterating on your game.
Web Player was end-of-lifed in 2015 ( https://blogs.unity3d.com/2015/10/08/unity-web-player-roadmap/ ) so I and a lot of other people can’t play it. If you could build it to WebGL or post the project on github/bitbucket, I’d be happy to play through.
Cheers
Hey ninjachimp, thanks for letting me know.
That kinds sucks, I was following all the tutorials and so was building this in Unity 4 which doesn’t appear to have an option for building in WebGL.
Unity 5 however, does.
When I tried to load the project into Unity 5, nothing shows up.
How can I make the conversion?
It could be as simple as you have to double click one of the scenes, or there might be some migration needed. Are you able to post the project for download? PSA: How to ask for help with Unity
Hey ninjachimp,
I remade the game in unity 5 and copy pasted the script over.
I’ve updated the my original post to include a link to the WebGL version.
Awesome work, there are some really good elements there.
I like the way you implemented the countdown on the bed deployment.
This was a little confusing at first (spoiler)
Maybe instead of “go back” it should be “select another option”?
The escaping under the bed mechanic is very cool.
This struck me as initially weird (spoiler)
Should there not be an option to go down the hallway here?
lol at the ending
I replayed as you suggested and was pleasantly surprised to find the codes changed. Is there any way to survive, or are you doomed no matter what?
I’ve now updated the game and the links in my first post to remove change the wording of those 2 spots.
I’ve corrected a couple of other grammatical errors too.
I because I wanted the challenge, I’ve added even more randomisation!
So the links are now, i suppose v1.1
Ninjachimp, feel free to try it again.
Anyone else, jump in and have a go!
This is an awesome game! I really like the puzzles you created, it’s inspired me to make changes to my game!
thanks ElRimmero!
I’m quite chuffed to know my efforts create inspiration in others
