Material rughness

I know it’s not a lot of creativity, but what do you want to say about photorealism? I’m a big fan of photorealism. Give me feedback about it.

is my chess scene looks realistic or not?

It’s a start. Photorealism is not really compatible with low poly models. Plus it will take later lectures to make things look more real.

If it’s realistic it would be more worn and torn. Pieces a bit off the grid. An environment for the board. So many things. Photo realistic is very very difficult. You need a very good understand of the real world. Lighting for example. Or composition, or telling a story.

It’s good to have a goal! But it’s a long road.

It would be important to mention that low-poly is an aesthetic also. As you move through the course you will see people who have polished that skill set.

That said, a previous course covered the subdivision surface modifier. That would definitely move your pieces towards realism.
