At the first try i never seen blue square with mesh analysis. Lucky?
I do the edge split in anycase, and this is the result of my job.
I cannot stop to modifying it.
Pls tell me your thoughts .

Hi Fabbry,
Mesh analysis works in the edit mode only. You have tried it out in that mode? Depends what you want to analyze it colors the faces based on the selected analysis setting. In the course I think “distortion” was used as setting. Do remember to set the ranges from 0.1 to 0.
If you have anything between those ranges you should see blue. If not then you are not having anything between those ranges. By looking your model it looks like you could possibly have distortion in the mane of the horse at least.
I hope this helps. Nice horse btw!
Cheers, Jax
check this. i think it’s ok.
The last lecture doesn’t have subtitles and it’s a little bit more hard to understand all the first time.
Yeah, looks clean to me
Keep up the good work. To my understanding the only thing to consider with the distortion is the fact that when you have distorted faces and the model have a (fragment) shader applied, some of the distorted faces could end up looking “ugly”.
Cheers, Jax
If the mesh analysis is like i have here i think is okay
Hey Fabrizio,
I think in the Lecture the first angle for Distortion was set to 0.01 while the second one was set at 0. It seems you have the first set to simply 1.
All that aside, enter into Rendered mode to truly see if there are any distortions as it will show as “folds” on your shapes. I’m looking at that long face on the side of the horse right next to the other two faces toward the back. It looks like it would be distorted from how I see it, but I could be wrong.
Keep up the nice work~
So…
probably i miss that i’ve just add the modifier Edge Split.
If i disable this is the result:
Horrible.
The modifier solve the problem like previous picture.
Is enough for correcting rendering?
That mean : can i do everything and design no matter the shape, becase the edge Split modifier solve always that problem?
In rendering mode seems to be fine.
Thank you all in any case,
now i have a problem with cycles rendering with my GPU that crash blender only rendering the cube
AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2048 MB
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
i have open a thread in Lecture 103
Thank you again.
I am not 100% certain when you export models, but from what I just read, I believe the Edge Split script used in the modifier works when exporting so long as you have the Apply Modifiers checked from the FBX options. I would test this yourself with whatever program you use to be sure. Do something minor and something severe to check the differences.
Otherwise, you can do almost anything you like so long as you like the results. I believe the modifier should keep things looking good for you, but it’s always best to keep your mesh as clean as possible in every situation.
The Mesh Analysis is more of a reference to be precise when doing things that require high accuracy such as 3D printing, but it is very useful to use when modeling for games or animations.
================
I’ll look at your other thread in a minute. Not sure if I can answer it, but I’ll try!
You’re welcome and see you soon~
I aant to learn blender, not for gaming production or movie.
The purpose of my training is making strange and beautiful picture.
So i want to rendering.not exporting…for.now.
I hope this course teach me also that.
Thank you for all gour suggestion and answer.
