Seems like there are spots that the particle editor can’t see and I can’t edit.
Bald spots on the foot, clumps on the inner ear, and a weird beard that I can’t get rid of.
Oh well, hoping that further lectures will show me how to fix this.
yeah it seems making this method feasible for a real creature is much more of a challenge. At least with Mike’s technique. it probably makes more sense to have a fur material underneath. Or better have simulated fur like they do with game engines. I decided to sleep on this challenge cuz of this.
From what I have seen, when there is baldness it’s because there isn’t a parent strand of hair in that area.
If you go into the Particle Edit mode and uncheck the “Children” option in the left panel, you will be able to see the parent strands. There should be none in that bald spot. You can add some with the “Add” brush or increase the number of particles in the Particle settings on the properties panel.
Aside from the bald areas, the rest of the hair looks really smooth!
