Long time no hard-surface

Lately I’ve been spending my time on the weirdest (and rarest) “gun” I’ve ever modeled the - the Japanese camera-pistol Doryu 2-16, so I thought it might be worth it to gather some feedback as I put the finishing touches on it, as someone new with fresh eyes might spot something I’ve missed after staring at it for days at a time.

I made it more worn than the pristine reference would suggest and used a slightly different lens, but it should be fairly accurate otherwise. So, what do you think?

Is it a camera that looks like a gun or a gun that looks like a camera? Or maybe it’s both a camera and a gun? Great model but a bit too James Bond for me! LOL.

It is actually a real thing that Japan issued to it’s police force in the 1950’s, a camera used like a gun, with magnesium cartridges (for flash) instead of bullets.

“Come on, let me get another shot of you! Look, the earlier mix-up was an honest mistake, ok? How’s the shoulder?”

I think I can see why this thing didn’t take off XD

Amazing job reproducing this; the wear looks very convincing and the detail is excellent!

It looks great. Possibly a little too aged and damaged, but it is still very effective and realistic.

Great model with super detail. I agree the textures are maybe a little too aged if the device is new, but looks good if the item is meant to be old and in poor condition.

Made me laugh, shooting a perpetrator with the wrong “gun”. Err, accidentally.

Thanks everyone though, guess I should make it somewhat less worn before finishing.

This is the coolest camera/gun I’ve ever seen. Really excellent model - very expertly done!
