Added some blue emission circles to represent some kind of lamps along two of the sides of the chess board.

And then I thought - Soooo - why not make the square borders emit light too?? How would that be?
Oh dear… I think I have made a TRON chessboard…Should I lower the glare? 
Well that’s something I’ve never seen before! Liking the TRON theme to it as you said 
Looks great. I’m enjoying watching the progress on this! I think I like the first pic a bit more.it allows the emission from the pieces to stand out more. Still cool with the lit-up board, but maybe a bit much IMO.

I have been using Blender now and then for quite some time, but never really dived really deep to learn the more advanced parts. Hope to be able to follow this course to the finish.
Maybe a tile can light-up when a piece is moved to it, kinda like a pressure plate.
Now, there is an interesting idea!
