Laser Defender with custom Graphics, FX & Boss Battle - WebGL Version

Hi guys,

I managed to iron out some issues with importing my Laser Defender in Unity 5, it should work on more browsers now

Please take a look and let me know what you think.

10,600 - big boss destroyed!

Really nice, I like the sprites for the ships, they look great.

I personally found the planets in the background flew by quite quickly and then obviously repeat fairly quickly. I also found some of the enemy projectiles a little hard to see on the background, mainly the more red coloured ones.

I like the speed, the sounds, the music, it was nice to find I could move vertically. I saw a shield appear at one point, not sure if that was after I died or if perhaps I collected something? In either case, nice addition.

The big boss was unexpected as it literally just appeared… its quite hardcore with the speed it shoots at but was a fun challenge.

Many thanks for taking the time to check it out and I appreciate your taking the time to leave some constructive comments.

I’m glad you enjoyed it. I will be going back to it once I finish the course and plan to rework it, implementing new ideas and people’s suggestions.

Cheers!

Hi @PavlosKon, you are more than welcome. It was good fun and has a lot of potential. When you come back to it, if you want any more feedback, just post in the forums, there are always lots of people willing to try out peoples games and offer ideas / suggestions / mentioning what they liked / disliked - it always seems to be very positive in nature and aimed to help etc.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the course

11150 and the boss destroyed.

It was a lot of fun.

Some of the planets were a bit distracting, maybe dim them down so its like they are not so close?

I did notice that if I shot a ship as it was spawning, it would respawn. I think I shot the same ship like 10 times before letting it spawn all the way lol.

Some indication that we are doing damage to the enemy ship would be nice. Maybe have it dim in brightness a little each time, or a little particle effect to indicate a strike.

Other than that, maybe more levels and power ups?

enjoyed it @PavlosKon, nicely done

really enjoyed the feel, and im a sucker for chipchoons and the 80s game music
I did like how you had the different layers of BG and the change in music for the big baddie.

Like Chris was saying, the one thing that stood out was enemy hit. I see you have it on the player if he gets hit, maybe incorporate that into the enemy just for a visual indication.

apart from that , cool beans

10850, man I suck lol… must … get … more … points

look forward to seeing what else you make through the course!

Thanks for the encouraging comments and the constructive criticism guys, much appreciate it

I plan on reworking it completely after I’m done with the course, adding more levels with different dynamic backgrounds (that will move slower and be leas distracting :-D) , a selection of different spaceships with different weapons / armour and more enemies and boss battles. Should be a fun little project.

Thanks again guys
