Knight mirror modifier rotation help


having an issue when rotating using mirror modifier. when Mickey extrudes up then rotates, the top ring just rotates nornally, when I rotate, it splits and folds in on itself, like a mirror. how do I sort out this issue?

You have to apply the mirror modifier?

Are you rotating it in edit mode?
That moves mesh without moving the origin point that is the mirror point of the object.
