Keyboard shortcuts and scaling axis selection behavior

The shortcut keys are faster, and of course more precise. I started the pyramid using the tool shelf on the left and side and it was clunky. The shortcut keys make it quick and simple to size exactly the dimensions you want.

The behavior for selecting axes for scaling was puzzling to me for a bit, that if I press S followed by X then it will scale in the X axis. But if I additionally press SHIFT-Y to add the Y axis, then the Z axis is active and I have to press SHIFT-Z to deactivate the Z axis which reactivates Y.

SHIFT-n is “constrain the n axis” I must have missed this in an earlier lesson. It makes sense that it is a single step to select two axes. It’s either ‘this axis’ or ‘not this axis’.
