Is Unity good at liquid simulations?

My end goal is to make generative simulated ocean waves and other abstract liquid simulations like this one:

Can things like this be done inside Unity, or are other software tools better suited for this type of work? The end purpose would be for art, ie like a screensaver, possibly VR. thank you in advance

I think something like this can be achieved within Unity if you learn programming with HLSH/Cg. However, simulating waves is very expensive. If you want to make art, I’d recommend to use Blender or another 3D modelling software.
