Importing .png file into Assets

I tried everything from this thread. Have Windows, btw.

The png. still won’t load into assets. Have gotten it to the point where I can drag into the box, but it won’t load.

Hi Jessica - any luck yet?

If not, and you already made sure Unity is running at the user level (not as Administrator), then I just need a little info before I can try to diagnose.

  • What version of Windows are you running?
  • What Unity version are you running?
  • Has the file be decompressed (extracted)?
  • Is the file appearing in Unity’s Project window but otherwise unable to do anything with it?

Cheers!

A screenshot of the Unity window, with the image under /Assets selected would be beneficial to.

I managed to get the png file into Unity by clicking Assets > Import New Asset and then selecting the file directly,
I assume this accomplishes the same thing as just dragging the file into Unity directly

Nope, no luck so far. How would I go about running it at a user level? Whenever I right click it only has the option to run as an admin with a logo that looks like a shield?

Windows: I’m running 8.1 I believe?

Unity: 4.6

The file has been decompressed.

And no, it’s not appearing in the window.

Yeah I’ve been trying that too.

unity%20windowprison%20word

Is this helpful?

Seems like you’re trying to import the file in the _MACOSX folder. If you go up one level, you should see a file ‘prison word’ without the . in front of it. That one should work.

Yes that worked, thank you so much!! Way simpler solution than I thought haha.

Just as a heads-up, you will find a lot of the .zip’d assets come with this structure, so that both Mac / PC users are supported.

Awesome, glad it worked! Can’t wait to see what awesome content you’ll create  Good luck and have fun!

Thank you! Good to know one of the uses for compressing a file.

Thanks Kevin!
