Importing 3D from maya to Unity

Hi, I’m 70% into the tutorial, not sure if Ben will be covering how to properly set up a 3D rig to animate in Maya and the proper workflow to export FBX file into unity and use the imported model as characters in unity, but this has been bugging me for a few weeks already. I tried to follow You-tube tutorials on how to import Maya animation into unity, every time I import, there’s always weird stuff happening, if not for character floating on the root joint even though there’s up and down movements, and some models doesn’t even move and stay at the T-pose after importing.

Is there any cheat sheet on what to do and what not to do for importing to make sure all my process is done correctly and incase I have missed out some fine details? Thank you!
