I don't know what to do

i’m i just Supposed to download unity 5 by my self or is there a video showing me how to or what

The download of Unity is covered in the course, it’s in the first lecture.

There’s a video snippet of this here, on GameDev.tv’s YouTube Channel.

Note, this will cover the version recommended for the course, which isn’t the latest version of Unity.

oh so i all ready downloaded it

Which version did you download?

4 pont something

Ok, as long as it’s 4.6 or above I believe you should be ok. Later in the course you upgrade to Unity 5 so that will be covered also. If you decided to go with Unity 5 from the beginning there are some additional lecture resources which cover the differences between versions for each of the projects you will work on, e.g. the changes you will need to make. Obviously if you get stuck at any point you can also post questions here and someone from the community will help you.

Have you installed Unity 4.6.x already? PC/Mac? Only version installed?

i downloaded it on my mac and how can i tell what version i have

Does the downloaded file not give any clues, either in the name or if you view the properties of the file?

Regarding Mac… when you install Unity it doesn’t give you a choice of locations for the install, so, if you want to install more than one version, e.g. 4.6.x and 5.5.x, it would be best to perhaps install the older version first, then, rename the installation directly (to something that gives you an indication of that version), then, install the newer version. This is one significant difference between PC and Mac as the PC gives you the ability to select the location on install.

i’m pretty shur i downloaded 4.7.1.

My suggestion would be to then install that on your Mac, but then after you have installed it, rename the directory that it is installed in to something like “Unity471” for example. Then, if you install a more recent version later on either in the course, or before etc, you will have them separated.

can’t i just download unity 5 when it is time

If you only want to run the one version yes.

If you open your previous version project files you will be asked to upgrade them, once you do this, you will be unable to open them again in the older version. You don’t have to have multiple versions.

thanks for helping

No worries, if you have any other questions / problems, just post and someone will most likely help you fairly quickly. Also, as and when you complete your versions of the games, please do share them with everyone here, it’s always great to see each person’s take on the games
