Human head

I had to apply some of my learnings, so i tried to make a human head with reference photos. What do you think? What could be better? And where do i move on from here?7th%20cycles%20ear%20work%20and%20eyes

Impressive work!
Add textures for sure, maybe procedural skin first.
Then hair particles …
A hat
The eyes could be more distinct, it has a haze.
But it’s always easier to comment. But I did this part too and I know it’s difficult. So you did a good job!!

Thank you! Ill look into it!

I think the ear is a bit misplaced… The way it is right now looks like it’s attached to the side of the neck.
Maybe…

Otherwise, great job!

Does he have an Inner Mouth? Could be another step further

Hi, thank you! I cn see what you mean. Before i read your reply i diminished the size of the cranium and the ear in the right places. I think it looks a lot better now. And maybe the angle of the photo made it look even worse than it was. The ear was actually in the correct spot according to reference images… Maybe she was abit off :joy: anyways, ill post it here when i hve my laptop at hand

A question… Ive put on some procedural skin textures. The problem i have now is that the skin only reacts to one of my light sources… Even if i duplicate it it is only one light source that brightens my scene, or head figure. What have i done wrong?

Well… maybe something is wrong with your nodes.

Maybe if you post the nodes or the file we can take a look and see what’s wrong.

Forgot to ask. Are you using HDRI and Mesh Lights or Object Lights?

Here is the tweaked head and ear.

Here are my nodes

I use object lights.

Ah! think I know the problem!

Is “zoom(2)” a black and white texture? If it is you need to plug the Height value of the Bump node and not the Normal.

If zoom(2) is a proper Normal map you should get rid of the Bump and plug to a “Normal Map” node.
Unless, you want to mix Normal and Height then you keep the Bump node and add a Normal Map node after the Bump Node.

Btw made a quick test with Suzanne

A simple node setup!

Thank you so much!

I used a skin texture as normal map. Plain picture. It worked using normal map node yes! Here is the result, and also my first time using material for hair.
