Is it possible to unwrap the geometry into a plane without distorting the faces, just like a paper cutout?
Thanks in advance

Noob I don’t really understand the question… do you mean say unfold a cube so it makes a plane’ that sort of thing?? If you explain a little better what you are after maybe we can get you some help
Yes this is what I’m asking I want to unfold mesh (Cube,Sphere, whatever it is…) to a plane.
Noob there is a good few ways you can accomplish this …if you select a face then press P then seperate by selection , the face will be separated into another mesh …you could just seperate all the different pieces then translate and rotate them into place as a plane…
a cube would be easy just P seperate the top face and select the four side edges and press v for rip which rips the edges so they are separate from each other then just rotate and translate each face and then place the top face where you want it …ctrl j to join parts back together… or you can join parts back together by going into vertex select and selecting two diff vertices and pressing alt M to merge them … You can also use the Boolean modifiers Union to rejoin parts.
You could do the same with any object cube sphere …any shape…
Im not sure why you would want to do any of this rather than just adding in a plane …but to disassemble any part P to seperate out faces and v to rip edges then rejoin once in position should do the trick for you In Blender there usually is several different ways to do just about everything …this is just one of the ways you could do what you are after, first one that came to my mind Maybe some of the others will pipe in with a different or easier way to accomplish the same thing…
EDIT: I thought he was talking about UV unwrap! Lolllll
Yeah that got me initially as -well Mcfuzz hahah …that would be handy if blender had an unwrap tool for meshes like uvunwrap …maybe it does and we don’t know about it hahah … I have been at Blender almost a year now and i still find new things with every model i make …its crazy haha
