I was trying to work out how to pick the same colours for the 2 text buttons and experimented with the eyedropper but couldn’t work out what it was doing. However, I discovered that I can CTRL+Click on the two buttons and edit the colour properties of both at the same time, so that solved my problem.
The question remains - any guidelines on how to use the eyedropper?

The eyedropper is a common tool found on many art and drawing applications. After clicking it, you can move the mouse to any where on the screen and the color entered into the color picker will change to match the color of whatever you are hovering over. When you want to select that color, just click.
It’s useful when you’re trying to match just that exact shade of blue from that picture.
