It took me quite some time to come up with a scene idea that I liked. Glad I finally got somewhere!
The glyphs around the pyramid are bump mapped onto the pyramid and were an interesting learning process. There are, of course, lots of little tweaks that would be useful for a final project (e.g. the glyphs sometimes wrap around the corners, and they shouldn’t).
Much of the look of the scene comes from one of the simplest to create elements – the trees. I used the “Sapling Tree Gen” Add-On to generate a single tree and made the “forest” by scaling and rotating that one tree. I haven’t done much work on materials for the leaves, so they are pretty obviously hexagonal. Again, in a final project, I would fix that. It doesn’t bother me here though. I like the general feeling of the render.
