After what has become something of an extended project, I finally present my first game to the world:
Defend the earth from incoming space invaders!
It features a fully functional Procedural Enemy Ship generator! It took some time to figure out, code and optimize (using a CoRoutine), but I’m proud of the end result. No two games will ever be the same, because enemy ships are generated on the fly, with millions of variations.
If you’re only interested in what the procedural ship generator looks like, I’ve added a button to the menu to showcase its functionality.
See if you can reach scores of 1000 or higher! At a score of 1000+ and 3000+, the music will switch into high gear.
My personal best is a score of 8000 (approx. 4 min)
I’d love to hear what you guys think of it!
Cheers,
Ashen
(Note: the game is 15MB, so be patient when loading the game :).
Edit 1: I’ve optimized the game a bit further. The procedural ship generation should now work a bit faster with less lag. The start of the game has been sped up as well so that you don’t have to wait as long anymore for the first enemy ship to arrive.
Edit2: Small change made to Right-button (RB) control. Using the RB summons the projectile back to the paddle, and locks the paddle in place, allowing you to aim. Any mousebutton now allows you to fire in the aimed direction (previously only possible with RB). Also added a 3 second cooldown to the ‘Play Again’ button on the end-screen, to prevent button mashing at the end of the game causing you to accidentally click through this screen straight away.
