Frank has made his choice, he would set out on a journey to nowhere, to everywhere, to anywhere but here. Leaving his sisters behind will be the hardest thing he’s ever done, but it must be, Frank was tired of being a lumberjack, tired of being stuck in this hillside treehouse. His mind filled with too many curiosities, too many questions of what could be, he had to experience for himself, a life beyond the woods.
The trail out was not an easy one, or so he was told, Frank has never been past the second ridge, all he knew was what he heard from the truckers, when he could get a word from them, his parents usually dealt with them. They told him of wondrous things, huge buildings that came from the ground, miles and miles of farm land with no trees in sight, oceans farther than the eye could see, all sorts of strange ideas he couldn’t even imagine.
It was time, Frank grabbed his favorite pink plaid flannel, his boots, and his trustworthy axe and stepped off the ladder to the only home he’d ever known. He took a deep breath and marched towards the valley, toward his first challenge.
