So if you install version 4.7, there’s a step not depicted in the video.
Namely, when Ben runs Unity for the first time, the editor loads immediately.
However, for version 4.7 (possibly earlier versions too) the user is prompted with the “create project” dialog.
Not big deal, just click the buttons necessary to create a project somewhere. However, Ben doesn’t go into where to create projects until a later lecture.
Thanks for the tip, I imagined most people would have figure out by themselves, but it’s good to always come to the forums and check it out. I was a bit impatient and downloaded Unity 5 before even getting started on the first lesson.
Patient is a virtue.
Thanks for this, but there’s also another extra step I’m confused about.
Should I be importing any of these packages?
And I’m assuming at this point we want to choose setup defaults for 2D and not 3D… correct?
EDIT: After watching the rest of module 1, this is actually explained in the last video. Start it in 2D mode and don’t import anything. Hopefully this will be helpful for someone who has the same question as me in the future. Also name your project “Number Wizard” as they will ask you to do that (you can save yourself this step).
