I’ve completed the Code 2D games course, but wondering whether any of the courses cover State Machines?
Also wondering whether it is worth taking the the Script 2D games course. It seems like it’s platformer course is more complex, with the addition of enemies.
These two courses are very similar. Godot 4 2D Game Dev: Build 3 Games with GDScript is largely an overhaul of the older course; however, the 3rd games, despite being the same type of game, feel completely different. I’m the TA for both of these courses so naturally I’ll be a bit biased, but because these courses cover a lot of fundamental concepts that will apply to anything else you do, it won’t hurt to use the second course to solidify and expand upon what you learned in the first. You can tell by the different course durations (17.5 hours vs 11.5 hours) that Kaan does more than just add a new coat of paint to what was there before.
Exactly this. Shooting too! =)
State machines are explored in Godot Roguelike: Build a 3D Hack ‘n’ Slash. It’s worth pointing out that there are several ways to go about building state machines and this is only one implementation.
