Difference between copy&paste and the array modifier?

Hey guys,

is there a difference between Ctrl + C & Ctrl + V and the array modifier?

I tried both and got the same result with my pyramids. The only difference is with the array modifier the pivot point stay on the old position. WIth copy & paste the pivot point is on the new pyramid.

The difference is that with copy & paste you are creating new objects which are independant of each other. With the Array modifier you are duplicating parts which remain as one object. When you get to Section 4 you will learn a bit more about the “Duplicate” and “Linked Duplicate” functions while Section 6 will teach you more about the Array modifier. Then, in Section 7 you will work with them a LOT which will help you learn to judge when each is appropriate.

With the array modifier you can create lots of identical parts at once, evenly spread out. Like stair steps :slight_smile:
