I think your mug is duplicated somehow … It contains artefacts (probably multiple faces occupying the same spot). Did you use Eevee , render or cycles?

The scene is very schematic. Everything is in line. A bit rotation on the Z-ax could give some dynamic.

So, are left or right handed? The sigaret is not in a logical place.

3D is not only modelling, but also composition and a bit story telling.
You colours are well chosen! I like them, good work!

used evee, looking at the blend file now and see that a lot of my normal are facing wrong way too, even turning normal to right side out doesn’t fix the artifacts, idk, something to do with the way I used lights I think as adjusting them is the only thing that fixes the artifacts. uhmm, idk, tried remove doubles and all, the way I did the cup was to create a cylinder with no cap and then extrude from inside that . . . confused . . . I get better . . . promise :P.

changed it a little. still getting some jaggy edges in me shadows, idk why :P.

I don’t use Eevee, but I know there are some issues in rendering shadows. Mostly configuration, switching on some options.

Michael covers a bit about shadows, and why you’re seeing those jagged edges, towards the end of section 3. But, like Fedpete said, the problem is rlated to your settings and how Eevee is calculating things.

Ok. Thanks guys :). I only started section 3 yesterday so I look forward to learning more about getting better renders then :). Keep kicking butt :).
