Chess Lighting Test

First test with lighting! Trying to get natural looking shadows but still need some tweaking. I’m using 6cm figures, so might need to enlarge those at some point to get the sharper shadows I want.

I’ve found the best way to achieve the look I’m going for is by using spotlights rather than point lights. This is the overhead look of my scene:

(Side note: I’m working on my own piece style taking inspiration from a draconic chess set, those cylinders on the bishops will be booleaned out)

Looking good. It will be interesting to see your different set.

Shadow is NOT an object property. Work with lamp size (or sun angle) to change the softness.
But be aware Eevee has different options for shadow handling. Like ambient occlusion.

Also set lamps furter away and more watts to get evenly lit scenes.
