Bunny under Maple Tree

150 sample, 3:57:27.24

Maple leaves look like paper than natural leaves. I’ve set random to red and yellow leaves on particles setting but most of them still on the same place. Could anyone give me any idea?

Hi Nas.dev,

There are something you can do with your leaves in material level. Here’s what I have done in my render:

  1. Use glossy shader (leaves tend to have some gloss in them, don’t over do it)
  2. Use translucent shader (leaves let some light pass them)
  3. Create normal map texture from your leaves diffuse textures and apply in the nodes editor. Normal map allows you to add realism into flat / low poly models by reflecting light differently than flat / low poly surface normally would.
  4. Use small amount of bump (apply bump node in the nodes editor)
  5. Don’t be shy to experiment with the amount what looks “natural”, too few or too much just looks odd.

There are some really good tutorials about these nodes / shaders in the youtube / interwebs, so just take a peek. Unfortunately I cannot start typing here how those all would work, it would just take too long, sorry.

Hope this gives you some direction.

Cheers, Jax
