Boolean for the mouth

I try to create the mouth of my knight with Bollean. So i created the Mesh for the Mouth out of 2 objects and used Boolean " Union" to create the Mouth shape. Everything is good so far. But now i want to use Boolean "Difference between my Knight and the Mouth i made. But what happens is that both get to one piece. So what i misunderstood?

Ah when i try only one mesh like a cube it worked hmm

You can JOIN (merging) the mouth part together, before applying it as part of the boolean.

Select cylinder and rectangle and join them together, using th Ctrl+j key command.
Or used the boolean UNION, but then apply the modifier.

You can join your two parts of the ‘cutter’ then cut the mouth. Or just do one part then the other.

If i just joined them i got intersected geometry so i went one by one and it worked
