Sometimes, when I add a mesh in object mode to a scene that already has objects with materials added then switch to edit mode, selecting a face (let’s say a simple cube for example) and assigning the material it will assign the material to the whole cube and I can’t get it to change materials individually. If I want an object to have several materials do I need to add those materials to the object? I was under the impression that once I created a material I could use them all my objects. Thanks for your help!
Create a CUBE.
Go into edit mode.
Add new materials in the material panel.
For example 3 materials with the colours RED. GREEN and BLUE.
Select ONE FACE (Alt A, to switch off all selected, the with mouse select a face)
Go to the material tab.
select one color and PRESS the button assign (below this material panel).
This will be explained in the course!
That makes sense thanks! I think I’m just over analyzing it. It’s a weakness of mine
I have the same illness, want to do mathematically correct mesh etc. But Blender is free in its doing. These is no good or wrong. Only way to look at things is efficiency. And will grow with knowledge, insight and skills.
