All is Well... first scene

Well. This is my first go at Blender. I’m an artist/maker but an analog one ( Art, Craft and Design Graduate specializing in silver and goldsmithing XD) Decided to try and learn how to do stuff digitally, so please, be kind XD.

It’s looking good! I really like the roof you created. Keep up the good work!

Some creative variations there. Round roof and wound rope. Just no handle to turn the rope bar, lol.

I retired from that very life. Lucky to have done it via apprenticeship. Hope there is some future left in it for you.

Ah, C’mon. It’s XXI century, there’s a remote to turn the rope bar

Using 3D models to print silver, gold jewellery?

Not me, that was only just becoming a thing a few experimented with before I retired. Far more use to jewellery though not so much goldsmithing. That’s more house decorative items than personal body, think goblets to ‘Faberge’ eggs. Odds are Patty will end up just doing jewellry, there is effectively no market for goldsmithing work now.

As far as I was tought Goldsmithing is making jewellery. Silversmithing ( cofusing for non english speakers, has nothing to do with the metal you’re actually using) is making goblets, and household stuff. I’m doing both, I have a diploma in silversmithing and fabrication, but was allways more interrested in making jewellery. I hope to learn 3D modelling to be able to print my designs in wax straight away as I don’t have full workshop and all the tools to make them by hand.

Not really, traditionally as in the Worshipful Company Of Goldsmiths medieval great City Livery Company. Goldsmith is the proper name of what most just call a silversmith. Problem is, silversmith covers those making silver plated wares, which is rather different, more mass repetitive factory work, low grade soft non silver soldering. Real jewellers are called diamond mounters. Basically its mostly a size thing. Most who make jewellry find bigger stuff a different task. Goldsmiths make the fine gold and silver non jewelry things, Jointed boxes/objet d’art to candelabra/ewers, though craftsmen tend to specialise between ‘large worker’ or small worker’ Or did when the trade still existed. Jeweller can be anything in any material, even just stringing beads. My experience is top end London trade.

As a jeweller you will have a vast market and no real issues, just how to sell. Assuming like all the young, and now mostly female generation, you intend making your own stuff, not getting a job making in a ‘factory’ workshop. Jewellery is a vast area and there will be companies from two employee to hundreds about probably, if you do look to go that way, but not my area.

See I made my wax models when needed by hand, directly built up and hand carved. Just too old and past it for this easy option new world. lol. Though your problem will be anyone can now make the pattern in Blender, print the wax, send it to the caster. Minor cleaning, up done. Your designs will need to include some extra hand work beyond that anyone can just model, print, and add a jump ring to.

That’s a super cool take on the first challenge. I take it you’ve familiarized yourself with the array and cast modifiers?

No idea what you’re asking me about. So I’d say no XD. Just starting the course
