2026 Collab: Week 28 “SpaceX”

This is the Blender Collaboration 2026, week 28 challenge. Don’t be afraid to join, a lot of us are beginners. This is all to practice, have fun, learn, and get together.

This week’s subject is “SpaceX”.

  • “SpaceX” - related. Rockets, Mars, satellites, landing equipment …

The rules are simple. 1 subject, 1 entry, 1 week.
You create whatever object or scene or whatever you can think of that has something to do with the subject. It can be as simple or complicated as you want, all entries are welcome!
Post your picture here in this thread. At the end of the week, we start to vote. And if you are the winner, you may choose the next subject and win a unique badge.

Deadline: 2026-07-11T21:55:00Z

Trying to make a rocket engine similar to SpaceX’s Raptor

looks like I have plenty of time left to work on the background

At my first quick glance at the design, I really thought that a person was tied to the Raptor engine (to the right of it…)

WIP ~ if I have the time.

I might still make some tweaks, I’ve been playing around a lot with volumetrics. My poor GPU is struggling a bit with the heatwave in the UK!

The original idea (below) was for the whole scene to be much foggier and for the ship to already be inside a nebula, but I like the composition of the one above better.

Previous version (not final entry)

Final version. I’m imagining it to be a cutscene in a space sim-type game.

Time to put the GPU in the fridge.

We @BlenderCollab have a few days to vote. You can vote fast but also think slowly about design, colors, technique, difficulty, subject, realism, etc. Choose consciously and not on your entry.
The new subject week 29 “Handcuffs” has already started. The winner of this week’s “SpaceX” challenge may select a subject for next week 30 and win a badge.

@Myn , congratulations on the creative elaboration of the SpaceX subject. The note in the bottom left corner provides context to the image and turns it into a little story. Well done.

  • FedPete - I’m missing enhancement like sun streaks, and lens flares.
  • Srl1 - Very nice asset and I understand your comment of “working on the background”. Backgrounds are always hard to do … Because the need to give context on the main subject.

Note: I don’t want to offend anyone. I try to write down positive ideas and visions in my simple use of the English language. I am also sometimes more inspired by a particular subject or solution. I’m also learning from you!
