2025 Collab: Week 16 “Gothic Majesty” - VOTE CLOSED

This is the Blender Collaboration 2025, week 16 challenge. Don’t be afraid to join, a lot of us are beginners. This is all to practice, have fun, learn, and get together.

This week’s subject is “Gothic Majesty”.

  • “Gothic Majesty” - Create a character, object, or scene that channels the dark elegance and haunting power of the gothic aesthetic. Whether fit for a forgotten crypt, a storm-lit city alley, or a midnight ballroom, the focus is on atmosphere, mood, and reverence.

    • Velvet textures, silver adornments, bone and shadow
    • Gothic fashion and regal posturing
    • Forgotten relics of immense beauty and sorrow
    • Pale light, deep contrasts

the idea is Create something beautiful and haunting.

The rules are simple. 1 subject, 1 entry, 1 week.
You create whatever object or scene or whatever you can think of that has something to do with the subject. It can be as simple or complicated as you want, all entries are welcome!
Post your picture here in this thread. At the end of the week, we start to vote. And if you are the winner, you may choose the next subject and win a unique badge.

Deadline: 2025-04-19T21:55:00Z

Looking really good! I think you can go even further with the macabre/gothic. I added some similar elements in the still life challenge last year: https://community.gamedev.tv/uploads/db2322/original/4X/e/f/f/eff7ed1c126b3e20a7e0e929c60815856c8510cc.jpeg

Really well modeled objects and the texture on that chalice is excellent!

I had the week off, so I really dedicated myself to trying to bring this model to life, as it has a deep personal meaning to me. I spent long hours on this and learned alot in the process, I present you, “the Velvet Witch”

I stumbled upon this forum for the first time. I felt inspired to join in and made a few tweaks to my original scene. My inspiration comes from the Insidious movie, just something simple that captures the atmosphere or I tried

Hi welcome!
To help you a bit, your scene is a bit dark on my monitor.
Maybe a bit of help from GIMP, Krita, Photoshop?

Thank you! I really need to improve a lot of things, including my lighting skills

There’s a lot to improve on this one, but I ran out of time for the challenge

Oh wow, really cool witch :broom: awesome work!
I think either a more smiley/friendly or mean facial expression would give it a bit more character :mage:

We @BlenderCollab have a few days to vote. You can vote fast but also think slowly about design, colors, technique, difficulty, subject, realism, etc. Choose consciously and not on your entry.
The new subject week 17 “Embracing AI” has already started. The winner of this week’s “Gothic Majesty” challenge may select a subject for next week 18 and win a badge.

@SweetOblivion congratulations on your beautiful entry. It fits the theme well.

  • Joey_Cuevas - I like your gothic scene. Could us more dramatic lights and … glowing eyes …?
  • gallmerci - Great model (Game of Throwns?). I think the lighting is a bit harsh (moonlight ~ blueish ~ You would expect warm torch lights)
  • Miguel_Alexander_Vas - Glad you’ve updated you scene. Details are much better now. I like your mysterious storytelling scene.
  • Srl1 - Lots of gothic beautiful elements here! But I do miss a bit of majesty here. Maybe because of the old and worn table.

Note: I don’t want to offend anyone. I try to write down positive ideas and visions in my simple use of the English language. I am also sometimes more inspired by a particular subject or solution. I’m also learning from you!
