This is the Blender collaboration 2021, week 24 challenge. Don’t be afraid to join, a lot of us are beginners. This is all to practice, to have fun, to learn, and get together.

This week’s subject is “Neon”.

• Neon - Neon is a chemical element with the symbol Ne and atomic number 10. The name neon is derived from the Greek word, νέον, neuter singular form of νέος (neos), meaning new.
• Subject selected by the previous week 22 winner Blest - “Dangerous”

The rules are simple. 1 subject, 1 entry, 1 week.

You create whatever object or scene or whatever you can think of that has something to do with the subject. It can be as simple or complicated as you want, all entries are welcome!
Post your picture here in this thread. And at the end of the week, we start to vote. And if you are the winner, you may choose the next subject.

Just started to light things up! 1024 Cycle samples.

When rendering in cycles do you get good glow or you have to go trough compositing?

There is a size limit on Giffs.

In cycles glow doesn’t exist.
You need to perform other Blender tricks, like working with the compositor.
With the compositor you can perfom image manipulations like Photoshop, but on object levels.
Here you can add a glare effect, which resemblance bloom in Eevee.

In my version I didn’t do that, too much work. But I did a tube in a tube to get more glass effect.

Loving it. I had this idea also. Starting with atoms in a tube, which leeds to the neon tube lights.
But difficult to make a good composition and story…

Changed my petty GIF for this. It was interesting to discover how neon actually work. And process of making them in glass. Fascinating.

I know I haven’t been active in a while. Sometimes life gets in the way of participation in things we enjoy, but I did make something for this one.
I’ve really missed doing these.

Liquefied neon is commercially used as a Cryogenic refrigerant

Plus it can illuminate such refrigerator with its by properties. Cool when you wakeup after chilled nap.
Not sure though this wires/tubes would be sufficient for the task in hand

I like the way it’s lit. Super dark environment with good detailed lighting.
