1.15 Challenge - Starting to model my study

Decided to slowly build a model of my study / art space during the course and improve upon it as I gain skills.
Obviously it’s a big task, so just started with my favourite piece of furniture - a set of library card drawers. Looking forward to fleshing it out and learning how to make it look more realistic.
Photo of actual drawers for reference.

Good idea.
So handy having your reference right to hand where you can measure it,. I see a lamp that could be copied for the lamp lesson too!

Later if there is a largish area available you can take a photo of the bricks and use that to make the walls have the real colours and textures.

Thanks NP5. Yes I’m looking forward to doing the lamp, I’m already thinking about the best options for building efficiently. Really looking forward to working with textures too.

I guess I was thinking about the stone hedge, or this was an easy shape to build.

Hey how’s it going? I like your model so far it’s coming along really well.

I started the course back when it was all 2.79 and never got all the way through so I am starting all over again with 2.80. Anyway to cut to the chase I had the same idea last time around and so thought I would show you a comparison between my first desk that I made and my next version as I progressed through the course.

My first attempt at the start of the course using just primitives…

Here are a few pics of my later version.

Here is my actual desk:
So my PC has changed since then and I reversed my desk layout but the speakers, upper monitor and desk are still the same. Anyway just thought I would share this as an example of how much you can improve if you stick with the course. I think remodelling the same thing with more knowledge is a great way to see the change.

It would be cool to see how your model progresses too, be sure to post more pics later on in the course.

Good stuff guys keep it up!

(On a side note I think I need to get my space looking more like the renders, there’s a lot more junk lying around in real life )

The detail in the computer is incredible!

Thank you Ethan, it took me quite some time to do, as I tried to make everything to scale, the detail on the Motherboard and GPU is mostly from some textures thrown on top of a flat plane.

Still looks great!
